This has been a good 7 days! Last Thursday morning, I got up early to run with one of my friends who was doing his taper for the marathon on Sunday. I figured I would be dragging him down and he would run out and back over and over waiting for me. Instead, I ran with him the whole way! 9 minute miles for 5 miles!
I met my goal. Thursday night, my runners were coming to my house for a carb-loading pasta dinner (I'm told I served my world famous manicotti - I had no idea it was world famous!). I was able to offer to one of my runners that had been having a tough go of it, "would you like me to run you in for the last 6 miles?". YAY! She asked me to do 5, right after the "Dollys" - yes, two big hills next to each other named for Dolly Pardon. It was easy, except my legs are a little tired - and I had picked up an extra boot camp on Saturday morning (Thurs 5 miles, Fri boot camp, Sat boot camp and Sunday - 5 with my runner). I parked at mile 22 to cheer and then walk/jogged back to mile 21 as I cheered for everyone to run her in. She did great!
My legs were beat up after this, so I took off Monday from boot camp. Where normally I'd push through to get strong -- but I'm coming off an injury... so I behaved. Today, I met one of my speedy buddies for a run (he knew it would be slow), but I averaged 8:24 for 5 miles!! I'll be doing boot camp on Friday and Saturday then I'm going to go for 8 on Sunday!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

You're doing well! Be careful not to overdo things, but enjoy Sunday's 13k. Your friend was considerate not to ask you to run over the "Dollys"!
